Lunch Bunch will meet on Friday, October 25 at 12 noon at Perkins on Lehigh Street. Enjoy good food with friends!

Mark your calendars for Dec. 7, 12 noon in the lower social hall for our Church Advent Party. It will be a pot luck meal with our famous games, a craft (very easy and not mandatory!) and a collection of gifts for our Advent mission of Bright Hope, which is an outreach agency for mothers and babies (kind of like Mary and baby Jesus!). Some of the items most needed are: Baby Wipes (unscented preferred), Diapers-sizes Newborn, 4, 5 & 6, New Baby Bottles, Baby Wash, Baby Shampoo, Baby Lotion, Boys and Girls new clothing-sizes 18 months, 24 months, 2T more needed, but smaller sizes too, New Sippy Cups, New Baby Towels and Washcloths, Receiving Blankets (not crib blankets), New Crib Sheets, and New Diaper Bags. So instead of gifts for each other, we will be bringing gifts for the babies and mothers in need right here in the Lehigh Valley. Our own Nancy  is a volunteer with Bright Hope. Join us in worship in late November to hear more of their story. Questions? Speak with Linda  or Pastor Lori.
News from our Food Pantry…
Zionsville Area Food Pantry – Our church is again this year supplying stuffing mixes for the Food Pantry Thanksgiving Bags. We need 120 boxes by November 4th. Thank you!
Remember that you can bring items to our Church for the Food Pantry at
any time. The pantry is always in need of personal care items, paper products and all kinds of non-perishable food. Pick up extra at the grocery store and bring it to Church. Place in the shopping cart in the first floor Social Room. Thank you!

We are also collecting clothing, household items, toys, books, etc. all year around! These items will be sorted and distributed to our food pantry clients four times a year. Thanks in advance for your support. Place items on the bench outside of Pastor Lori’s office and mark it “stuff.”

News from the FUN Group…
Faith Uniting Neighbors Group

The annual Bazaar & Filled Basket Auction is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th this year.

What fun basket are you going to contribute? Would you like to have your own table at the event? Contact Ardyth  (610-965-8829) if you would like to reserve a space (a reservation form is included in the newsletter)—don’t miss out!
Please contact Jan  (610-966-2609) if you would be able to help solicit prizes in the Macungie, Emmaus, or Zionsville areas…a copy of the letter to solicit items from local businesses to be used to fill baskets for the auction is included with the newsletter. She will coordinate solicitation so that we avoid approaching the same business multiple times.
We would love to have some homemade goodies for our bake sale (we’ll remind you in next month’s newsletter). Also, we could really use some help setting up tables on Friday night (November 8) and cleaning up on Saturday after the basket auction. If you are able to help with either set-up or clean-up, please sign up with Patti.

News from Music and Worship Committee…
Third Sunday Treats on October 20, 2019. Come to church a little early to enjoy some coffee, juice and breakfast items with your church friends. 9:45 to 10:10 a.m. in the lower social hall every third Sunday 

Fire Safety Month is Coming! Please use the closest exit to get out of the building. If we are in a group setting, the safe place to gather is the cemetery, away from the building. In that location, we will be out of the way of any equipment needed to put out the fire or help in whatever situation is happening. Always remain calm and know that God is with us!
Dedication Sunday – Please mark your Calendar for Oct. 20 as Dedication Sunday – where we will celebrate the many gifts that have been given over the past year. The biggest gift to be celebrated is the Chair Lift that has been placed in the Village School entrance. That gift was made by Phil  in memory of Sandra. It has had a challenging start in our building but because of the perseverance of our sexton, Rich  I think we are now on the way to successful operation of the chair. It is very simple to use. It is always on. Just be patient and try it out some day. Join us in Worship at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday October 20 to hear the other items donated to our church this year.

All Saints Sunday – Join in worship on Sunday Oct. 27 at 10:15 a.m. for All Saints Day and Reformation Sunday. Welcome the family members of the loved ones of our congregation who have died this past year and prayerfully remember them while family lights a candle on the altar for each one. This is a moving and meaningful service of worship for those who are grieving.

Christmas Eve worship! We are looking for your input to make some decisions regarding our Christmas Eve schedule of services. Please use the enclosed survey to “register” your opinion. There are four services listed to pick from. Please choose three that you think will best suit our church. The Wiggly Giggly service is already planned to have Dave Fry with us and is quite a hit with families with young children. Our 11 p.m. service has averaged about 20 worshippers in the past few years. We are considering a 3 p.m. worship service especially geared to our worshipers who prefer to not travel at night and who might bring along our homebound members to be able to be in the sanctuary again. We value your opinion and report back to you the results after the Congregational Annual meeting in November. Thanks in advance. Return surveys to the church office or drop in offering plate any Sunday. If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Lori.

News from The Village School…
We are full swing back to school and the children are settling nicely into their routines as we look forward to our Fire Safety and Pumpkin Patch field trips this month! We still have some openings in our 3’s class if you know of anyone who might be interested in our unique Literacy Through The Arts program. Our program includes local Resident Artists in Dance, Music, Art and Yoga. Many thanks go out to our congregation members who purchased apple dumplings or pies to support our fundraiser! Pick up is 10/16 from 11:30-12:30 and 5:30-6:30.

Did you happen to see our colorful new sign on the red doors that proudly displays our new logo? Village School is re-branding our logo to reflect our love of the arts and the role it plays in our preschool. The design was created by our artistic 2’s aide, Rachel. If you are on social media, please like and follow us throughout the school year on Facebook. When you search for us, we are “The Village School Preschool in Old Zionsville”. We invite you to share in the smiles and enjoy all the fun things we do during the year! If something catches your eye, or your hearts, feel free to share anything on your wall so that everyone can see what a great little school we have to offer at OZUCC!

We are looking for a church member who would be interested in joining the Village School Board, with the intention of being mentored this year to take over as Chair next year. Judy will be stepping down as chair of the Village School at the end of this year. We have a wonderful board in place that works well together and it would be an easy position to step into. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact Judy, or speak to Wendy Yeakel at church.
